External and Internal Heart Rate Monitoring of the Fetus Podcast
Fetal heart rate monitoring is a procedure used to evaluate the well-being of the fetus by assessing the rate and rhythm of the fetal heartbeat. The fetal heart rate may change as the fetus responds to conditions in the uterus. An abnormal fetal heart rate or pattern may indicate that the fetus is not getting enough oxygen.
Labor and Delivery
Each labor experience is different, and the amount of time in each stage will vary. Labor in a first pregnancy usually lasts about 12 to 14 hours.
Problems After Delivery
After birth, some women develop certain problems: postpartum hemorrhage, postpartum thyroid problems, and postpartum mastitis.
Taking Care of Mom
You'll need to take good care of yourself to rebuild your strength. Get plenty of rest, good nutrition, and help during the first few weeks.
